What is a yacht charter?

Yacht chartering is a practice of hiring a motor or sailing yacht in order to spend a vacation or carry out a business meeting.

There are two types of yacht charter: bareboat charter – hire just an empty boat and operate it by yourself, and skippered charter, when the professional captain is in charge.

Motor yacht charter is pretty expensive: usually this type of charter offers the luxury and big variants of yacht for rent, they require more fuel and there is a crew on board as well: except the captain, guests are served by hostess, chef, co-captain, deckhand etc depending on the yacht’s level.

Sailing yacht charter is a little bit simpler and more affordable. You can arrange the crew for service for extra payment, but it happens rarely since the sailings are not so spacious and usually there are no cabins for such a large number of people. The most common type of sailing charters is charter with skipper. Also you may operate your boat by yourself, but you need to obtain an international licence and get experience in driving a yacht.
